| 2000 Lincoln LS from North America - Comments
Lincoln LS 2000 (Ford/Lincoln = awful expensive experience) this car looks good, but issues with the passenger side window regulator, it just dropped into the slot. Other problems; airbag lights came on, transmission problems, a/c problems blows hot air, constant oil burning smell coming into the car, replaced that t-tronic part - never used this cuz I am afraid it will break, and sure enough it broke anyway. Overall, it looks great, but it's a money pit. DO NOT BUY THIS CAR. Just check this forum; the list goes on and on with negatives on this car... awful awful awful.. .
Welcome to High Country News
The LDS Church is more in harmony with our culture and ways than any other church, says Cliff Chase, a West Valley City police officer and a member of the Mapusaga Ward, a Samoan-speaking congregation of the Mormon Church. In a sense, we were already Mormons. Chase, like other Mormons, believes the Islanders destiny was pre-ordained. According to traditional church teachings, Polynesians and American Indians are Lamanites, a tribe of Israel that was wicked; as punishment, God colored their skin dark and banished them to the wilderness, where they would stay until the Mormons saved them. Saved from the wilderness is not exactly how many Islanders would describe their arrival in Utah. Many of them were unprepared for the realities of urban and suburban life. I thought it would be a place for just Mormons, says Mike Brunt, who came to Salt Lake City from Western Samoa in 1981, and now runs a Boys and Girls Club recreation and education center on the citys West side.

Sweethearts hit by car on verge of new job, first year of college
With their whole lives before them, the young couple stepped out Thursday to celebrate new beginnings. She was off to college, he was to start a new job. But everything came to a halt shortly after 11 p.m. when a driver traveling north on State Road A1A struck Brittany Degler, 18, and Alex Vazquez, 20, as they crossed the street near Spanish River Boulevard. Both were rushed to Delray Medical Center in critical condition. Police still are investigating what happened at the dark, T-intersection along the beach and Spanish River Park. .
PREVIEW-Tennis-Federer hunts fourth U.S. Open crown in a row
The 26-year-old Swiss has 11 grand slam titles and is hurtling like a hurricane towards Pete Sampras's record of 14. Another triumph on the hard courts of Flushing Meadows in New York would give Federer three of the four grand slam titles for the second year in a row. "It is great to be so close," Federer said of Sampras's record. "So close yet so far in a way because slams are not easy to get. "But I've done a very nice job the last few years picking off as many slams as possible and giving myself a chance over and over again," he told reporters. "It's one of the big goals for me in my career to not only equal it but break it." Federer's build-up for the U.S. Open provided an ominous warning to those hoping to achieve the near-impossible task of defeating the world number one in a grand slam.
Respond to Jeff's blog here:
How in the "world-no pun intended" can "authorities" tell us to recycle and pick up our garbage to help save the environment when the astronauts are throwing garbage in to outspace. Even though it "explodes" by the time it hits the earth it is still sending fibers, dust and "garbage" into the environment. How RIDICULOUS if you ask me or is it just me being sensitive:) What do you think Jeff? Jenny from RhinelanderGood question. I guess the only thing that comes to mind is that there's infinate room to toss junk in outer space and only a finite amount of space here on earth.J Hi Jeff, You could soak your feet in the tub or get a foot bath. I hope your heel get better soon. If their was a document to sign to stop the animals in the article from getting killed I would sign it. Keep on smiling.
Tests clear teens accused of murder in racially charged case
TAYLOR, Mich. -- Charges have been dropped against two black teenagers accused of killing a white mother of six. Police say ballistics tests show neither had a hand in shooting Wendy Meinke, who was killed July 30 during a dispute involving her son and others at an apartment complex in the Detroit suburb of Taylor. She tried to intervene, and two people shot in her direction. Taylor police later stopped a car carrying Devin Plummer, 17, and Franklin Smith, 18. Plummer was charged with first-degree murder and Smith with being an accessory for driving the car. The charges were dismissed after prosecutors received gun-residue tests Wednesday indicating it was highly improbable Plummer could have fired the gun police think is the murder weapon. The sudden reversal came two days after relatives and black activists protested outside 23rd District Court.
To ethanol or not to ethanol up to you
To ethanol, or not to ethanol, that is the question.Whether tis better to pay less for a gallon of gas and get less miles per gallon, or to pay more and go further on the same gallon?'Tis the question that motorized man has passed down through the ages.Is the perception of being green more important than keeping the price of corn down?It depends on the size of your tank, your tolerance for frequent stops, the coffee at your convenience store, your stock in Chevron or your job at the feedlot. The more ethanol gas you buy, the higher the price of corn. Increased demand for ethanol will raise the price of corn. The ethanol gasoline will eventually become equal or higher than the price of regular gas. Then the true test of one's commitment to alternative fuels will be put to the test. .
Waiting for the next Henry Ford
Today's modern technology would doubtless awe the people whose pioneering work made it possible. If Alexander Graham Bell flipped open a cell phone or Philo T. Farnsworth watched a high-def television, they'd be dumbfounded. Technology has taken their relatively crude inventions and made them immeasurably better. But suppose Henry Ford took a spin in a 2007 Lincoln Town Car. He'd undoubtedly be impressed with the leather seats, the thunderous sound system and the power windows. But when he looked under the hood, he'd feel right at home.Sure, the internal combustion engine's been improved since the Model T days. For example, fuel injection has replaced the carburetor, and electronic ignition eliminated the crank. But Mr. Ford would certainly recognize the basic system: An 8-cylinder engine burns gasoline to turn the wheels and drive the passengers.
