| Fire northeast of Galata consumes 2,000 acres
A fire that started northeast of Galata when a combine header hit a rock and caused a spark, spread rapidly west and consumed everything in its path. The fire, which paid no attention to county lines, burned nearly 2,000 acres in Eastern Toole County and Western Liberty County. It was finally stopped and put out along the North Lothair road. Fire trucks from Sunburst, Shelby and Chester joined area farmers with water trucks and rural firefighters from Whitlash, Galata and Lothair in putting out the blaze. .

DEAR DOCTOR: I own a 1999 Dodge pickup 5.9-liter V-8. I installed a set of exhaust headers and noticed the driver's side header would glow in the dark. I used a heat thermal gun, and the temperature ranged from 640-720 degrees. The passenger side header temperature ranged 440-520 degrees. A trip to the dealer indicated a lazy oxygen sensor. It was replaced, but made no difference. What would cause the difference in temperature? I am also burning out spark plug wires. .
Seniors at risk due to high heat, humidity
As the heat continues to rise in the mornings, leveling at between 100 and 110 degrees, seniors in Jackson County are becoming a concern for health facilities and local services.One such facility is the Everett King Senior Center in Tuckerman, which has opened their doors to seniors in town from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The center offers refreshments of cool drinks and cookies, a place to sit and relax and television for entertainment. They also have a variety of games available for those who wish to play while they relax in the air-conditioned facilities.While there hasn't been a tremendous number of heat-related medical emergencies yet, there have been instances when emergency medical services have been needed. .

Mercedes-Benz typically introduces AMG models after the base car is established. Porsche has even done some of that itself. But with the Cayman, it started with the hot car, called the Cayman S. Now it's introduced the base model. The 2007 Cayman is derived from the popular Porsche Boxster roadster, which also comes in two versions: base and S. Curiously, despite the fact that the Cayman is a coupe, it is priced higher than the Boxster.
