Johnson Has Record Deal, But Must Catch Up

Many think that taking off during camp and the first three exhibition games could prove beneficial after Johnson carried an NFL-record 416 times last year.

"What I know about myself is I've never been a fast starter coming out of the blocks in a season," he said. "I've always been -- the last eight games is when I really turn it on. So I'm going to push myself as hard as I can to try to even it out."

Kensington ships FM transmitter, iPod mount

Kensington has unveiled a new FM transmitter (site not updated) designed to make driving while listening to music a little safer. The company's Auto Kit holds an iPod in a mount that attaches to a window or the dashboard, allowing drivers to select tracks without taking their eyes off the road. The accessory allows iPod owners to play their favorite tracks directly from the portable media player in the car through the existing stereo by broadcasting the audio a short distance to the vehicle's antenna. Music is transmitted over any available FM frequency as the Auto Kit charges an iPod via the vehicle's cigarette lighter. Kensington's Auto Kit is available for $120, and works with any dockable iPod model.

Publisher Tries 'American Idol'-Style Talent Hunt

Gantry had overseen its construction during the previous winter after his return from a buying trip to Savannah. He called it "the cooker." Slaves had asked how it worked, but Gantry was uncharacteristically inscrutable. Instead, he had offered a demonstration three weeks ago, just before the weather turned.

Bartholomew had been caught stealing food, and he was sentenced to spend two hours in the box. He thought he had gotten off easy. Upon his exodus, however, the slave declared on wobbly legs that it was "too hot in there fo' the Devil hisself." Bartholomew was not one to pass up a chance at a good yarn, and he said that while in the box, he had heard pounding from down below.

"The Devil was openin' hisself a chimney straight from Hell, right into that box." Some believed him; most did not.

Tool Talk

Well folks, today I want to visit with you about some exciting donations that came in recently.

So often people drop off a box of old tools and oddball items, etc. and don't realize what is really there.

The other day a box came in and when we really looked it over, we found some interesting and historic items. One was a hole-making device. Could have been considered a hand drill. It was dated 1821 and makes holes 1/8 to 5/8". It can be viewed in Area P-1 Board #12. Another item we could have easily over looked as it is very small, as 1/4 drive e 3/8 socket made in Sri Lanka. That now gives us tools from 32 countries. This tool is on PD-3 Board 50 Item 32.

In another box was a Robertson screwdriver. Now that was not so unusual, but what was, it was made by a company that went out of business in 1948 and most tool companies didn't add this item to their line until the 1950's.
